Softball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Gilbert Classical Academy had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-11 to make it 12. They lost 30-14 to the Chandler Prep Titans. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Titans from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Ashleigh Voiles and Melanie Wu stepped up to the plate in a big way. Voiles got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Wu went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Guymon, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

As for Chandler Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Considering they have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Chandler Prep's side, Kate W was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. W has been hot recently, having also posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cadence Smith, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Gilbert Classical Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 40-18 defeat against Leading Edge Academy - GEC on the 28th. Chandler Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
