Softball Recap: Castro Valley Extends Winning Streak to Five

Castro Valley extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 13-3 in the process. They never let the San Leandro Pirates get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Trojans' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matchups.

Alanys Robertson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Zaylee Gutierrez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Giselle De Casas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Castro Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2024.

As for San Leandro, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3. The contest marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On San Leandro's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Orta, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Castro Valley is taking a road trip to take on Dougherty Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for San Leandro, they have already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Piedmont on the 24th.
