Softball Recap: Parma Takes Down Ranked Nampa Christian

Parma faced Nampa Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Trojans 6-4. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Wesli Crockett made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Crockett was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Zoey Heffelfinger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Parma's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Nampa Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 11-2 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parma will face off against Homedale at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.92 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nampa Christian, they will square off against Fruitland at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
