Baseball Recap: Advanced Math & Science Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It's playoff time, and Advanced Math & Science Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sutton Sammies on Sunday, sneaking past 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three contests in a row.

Matt Hassapes tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Advanced Math & Science Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was John Hobin, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Theo Gakis was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Advanced Math & Science Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Sutton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

As of now, neither Advanced Math & Science Academy nor the Sammies have any future games scheduled.
