Recap: J.L. Mann Patriots vs. Woodmont Wildcats
Even though the Woodmont Wildcats scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, the J.L. Mann Patriots still came out on top. J.L. Mann secured a 73-67 W over Woodmont. The victory was all the more spectacular given J.L. Mann's disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Woodmont is ranked 31st).
Jeremy Cook was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Davidson, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
J.L. Mann's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14. As for Woodmont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. J.L. Mann will take on T.L. Hanna at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. T.L. Hanna knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matchups -- so hopefully J.L. Mann likes a good challenge. Woodmont on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hillcrest at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hillcrest is on a three-game streak of home losses, Woodmont a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
