Softball Recap: Johnson Eagles vs. University Charter Trail Blazers
Johnson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 28-0 to the University Charter Trail Blazers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 20-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
As for University Charter, their record is now 5-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For University Charter's part, Sadie Dixon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Dixon posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, University Charter let Chesley Sutton and Lola Dixon run wild. Sutton went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Dixon got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Sutton a new career-high. Rylee Egbert was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Johnson will welcome Marengo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for University Charter, they will be playing at home against Choctaw County at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
