Softball Recap: North Marion Triumphs

North Marion came out on top against Robert C. Byrd on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Huskies walked away with an 8-4 win over the Eagles. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rayden Satterfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kinlee Hess was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Maci Singleton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for North Marion and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Robert C. Byrd, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, North Marion will head out on the road to take on Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games the Indians have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Robert C. Byrd, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sissonville at 11:00 a.m. The Eagles are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
