Softball Recap: Rosman Triumphs

Rosman proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Avery County Vikings 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Kiki Sexton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Blaikley Zuccala was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Lexa Lavery was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Rosman's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Avery County, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rosman beat the Vikings by a score of 10-1 on Friday.
