Baseball Recap: Mount Pleasant Takes a Loss

Mount Pleasant extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-6 in the process. They lost 13-7 to the Odessa Ducks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Green Knights of the 13-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Mount Pleasant saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The Green Knights are 2-1 when Smith posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise. Ayce Mascucchini also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Odessa, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Odessa's side, they got a massive performance out of Spencer Flayhart, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Biondolillo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mount Pleasant is set to challenge their familiar foe Christiana at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Odessa will take on rival Delcastle Technical at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
