Cardinal Spellman and Archbishop Stepinac are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Pilots will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. Cardinal Spellman will be strutting in after a win while Archbishop Stepinac will be coming in after a loss.

Cardinal Spellman took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mt. St. Michael Academy a 4-0 shutout. The Pilots haven't had any issues with the Mountaineers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac faced Iona Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Crusaders came up short against the Gaels, falling 10-0. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Gaels recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cardinal Spellman pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Archbishop Stepinac, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Cardinal Spellman came out on top in a nail-biter against Archbishop Stepinac in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Do the Pilots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
