Softball Game Preview: Triad Cardinals vs. Catholic Central Irish

The Triad Cardinals will head out to take on the Catholic Central Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Triad and 22 for Catholic Central dating back to last season.

Triad fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Greenon on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly three runs.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Catholic Central and Cedarville, and Cedarville kept the tradition alive. The Irish lost 14-2 to the Indians on Monday.

Triad's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Catholic Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Triad took their win against Catholic Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
