Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Even though St. Petersburg has not done well against Boca Ciega recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. St. Petersburg managed a 55-50 win over Boca Ciega. The win was just what St. Petersburg needed coming off of a 75-31 loss in their prior game.

St. Petersburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quay Curry led the charge by scoring 23 points. Kevina Le was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian waltzed into Friday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 66-18 victory over Universal Academy. Given Indian Rocks Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Universal Academy is ranked 572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Indian Rocks Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Stevens, who scored 31 points. The match was Stevens' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Atkinson, who scored 18 points.

The losses dropped St. Petersburg to 2-2 and Boca Ciega to 1-4.
