Football Recap: Caleb Carnes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santana over Fallbrook

Santana lost against Fallbrook back in September of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sultans took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The Sultans gained 141 more yards on the day, but it was the Warriors that made the best use of them.

Santana's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Carnes, who picked up 73 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one rushing score. Carnes also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making five total tackles. Julian Mayers handled things on the ground, rushing for 92 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Santana and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Fallbrook, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Santana will venture away from home to take on El Cajon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Fallbrook, they will head out on the road to square off against San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
