Soccer Game Preview: Thomas Jefferson vs. Montbello

The Thomas Jefferson Spartans will square off against the Montbello Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Thomas Jefferson managed to keep up with George Washington until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Spartans lost 4-0 to the Patriots.

Meanwhile, there was early excitement for Montbello after they claimed the first goal on Tuesday, however, they wouldn't score again. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Regis Groff. While losing is never fun, Montbello can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Regis Groff are ranked 26th).

Thomas Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-3. As for Montbello, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7-1 record this season.
