Softball Recap: Wellsville Extends Home Winning Streak to 19

Wellsville entered their tilt with Allegany-Limestone on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Gators 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Makenna Dunbar was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Dunbar was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other batting news, Brynn Hallock was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Teagan Burke, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wellsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.

Wellsville's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Allegany-Limestone, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Wellsville and Allegany-Limestone should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Lions will take on Our Lady of Mercy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (10 vs. 145). Meanwhile, Allegany-Limestone (ranked 108th) will meet Jamestown (ranked 414th) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
