Basketball Recap: Schaumburg Christian Takes a Loss

Schaumburg Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Yorkville Christian Mustangs and fell 59-19. While losing is never fun, the Conquerors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while the Mustangs are ranked 232nd).

Elizabeth Tomasek was Schaumburg Christian's leading scorer, having posted six points. Giada Falco held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

Leading Yorkville Christian to victory were Ava DiQui and Danielle Bulson. DiQui went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points and five steals, while Bulson dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. That's the most assists Bulson has posted since back in December of 2023. Grace Allgood was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Schaumburg Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Yorkville Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-6.

Schaumburg Christian will welcome Hiawatha at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Schaumburg Christian is facing Hiawatha at the right time seeing as Hiawatha is stuck on a 22-game losing streak. Yorkville Christian has already played their next match (against Illinois Math & Science Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
