Softball Recap: Scott Central Gets the Win

While Scott Central's victory against Ridgeland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels had just enough and edged out the Titans 5-4 on Friday.

Phoebe Black tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kadelyn Washington, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run. Jimma Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Scott Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeland only posted a batting average of .208.

Scott Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ridgeland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Scott Central is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Morton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.4 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ridgeland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Purvis at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tornadoes' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
