Basketball Recap: Effingham Takes a Loss

Effingham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 52-32 to the Richland County Tigers. If the Hearts were looking for revenge after losing 52-26 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Richland County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rex Hallam, who went 7 for 12 en route to 17 points and three steals. Casey Thomann was another key player, putting up 15 points and six boards.

Effingham's loss dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Richland County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Effingham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-40 defeat against Mattoon on the 6th. As for Richland County, they have also already played their next game, a 62-51 loss against Lawrenceville on the 7th.
