Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Jefferson Dragons

It was another big night for Lorenzo Still, who en route to 25 points. The contest was his third in a row with at least 17 points. Brayden Burns was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, everything went Jefferson's way against Peach County on Saturday as Jefferson made off with a 65-45 win. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Trojans are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points over those games. Monroe's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9.

Monroe came up short against Jefferson when the teams last played back in February of 2020, falling 55-45. Can Monroe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
