Basketball Recap: Galeton Falls Short of Sullivan County in the Playoffs

Galeton and Sullivan County squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Galeton had to settle for second. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sullivan County Griffins. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Galeton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of GAVIN SHUTT, who went 6-for-9 en route to 16 points, and MASYN MALACZEWSKI, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. What's more, SHUTT also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was TREY SYKORA, who posted five points.

Galeton's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Sullivan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Galeton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sullivan County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-32 defeat against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional on the 22nd.
