Recap: Weaver Beavers vs. Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens
The Weaver Beavers pushed their score all the way to 55 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a rough 81-55 defeat at the hands of Academy of Science and Innovation. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Weaver has scored all season.
Weaver's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Fazal Khan, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Khan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mahari Taylor, who scored 11 points.
Academy of Science and Innovation's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ibrahim Sidik, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sidik has scored all season. Jamal Kulaib was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Weaver and nudges their season record down to 6-2. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Weaver will play host again and welcome Parish Hill, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Academy of Science and Innovation won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against University at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Thursday.
