Baseball Recap: Laporte Triumphs

Laporte took an eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Cass Lake-Bena, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Thaoden Hartman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Evan Eisenbarth also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Laporte now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Cass Lake-Bena, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Laporte will face off against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cass Lake-Bena, they will challenge Northome/Kelliher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
