Baseball Recap: Waterloo Takes a Loss

Waterloo was the 1-0 winner over Belleville when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday.

Bryce Aubart put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Aubart wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shea Sellnow, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Waterloo has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-1 record this season. As for Belleville, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-10 record.

Coming up, Belleville will welcome Poynette at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Pumas at the right time seeing as the Pumas are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Waterloo will be paying especially close attention to Belleville's game: after Belleville faces off against Stoughton, they'll take on Waterloo again at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
