Recap: Wewoka Tigers vs. Destiny Christian Wildcats
The Wewoka Tigers won the last time they faced the Destiny Christian Wildcats, and things went their way on Thursday too. Wewoka strolled past Destiny Christian with points to spare, taking the game 57-39. Given Wewoka's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Destiny Christian is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Awtumn Sipes-Louie was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Shaniece Stephens was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Wewoka and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Destiny Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Wewoka will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against North Rock Creek on January 5th. North Rock Creek will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Destiny Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Konawa at 1:40 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Konawa and three for Destiny Christian.
