Baseball Recap: Marmion Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Marmion had lost six straight, but after bumping their record up to 8-15 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the St. Francis Spartans by a score of 6-3. This was a revenge game for the Cadets: when they faced off against the Spartans on Monday, they had to take a 9-5 defeat.

As for St. Francis, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10. Spartans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Marmion since Tuesday.

For St. Francis' part, they got a good showing from Liam Nugent, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, James Mcgrath made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Chase Grigonis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marmion will challenge rival Aurora Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Francis is set to face off against their familiar foe Saint Ignatius College Prep at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
