Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Carlsbad

Carlsbad extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 15-8 in the process. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Poway Titans, sneaking past 8-6. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-4 win on Wednesday.

Jett Kenady was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kenady was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Liam Stigers was incredible, going 1-for-4 with five stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Tyler Ward was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

As for Poway, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-17. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.83 runs.

On Poway's side, they got a good showing from Owen Digenan, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Digenan has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Poway got a big performance out of Parker Smith, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Tyler Roy also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
