Basketball Recap: Sunnybrook Christian Comes Up Short

Sunnybrook Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Lifegate Christian Falcons, falling 66-17. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.

Despite the defeat, Sunnybrook Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Davina Crowl posted seven points and four blocks.

Anelyna Cavazos was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds for Lifegate Christian. Cavazos is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 21 games she's played dating back to last season. Sophia Mendez was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds.

Sunnybrook Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lifegate Christian, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2.

Sunnybrook Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-38 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 16th. As for Lifegate Christian, they will face off against Salem Sayers Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Lifegate Christian's defense has only allowed 24.9 points per game this season, so Salem Sayers Baptist Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
