Softball Recap: Rochelle Takes a Loss

Rochelle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Ottawa, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hubs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 7-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hubs have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Rochelle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mya Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Kierra Clark also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Rochelle has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Ottawa, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rochelle will venture away from home to square off against Sycamore at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Hubs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ottawa, they will head out on the road to take on Kaneland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
