Basketball Recap: Kofa Takes a Loss

Kofa lost against La Joya Community back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kings lost 70-44 to the Fighting Lobos.

Despite the loss, Kofa still got an impressive performance from Jayven Wynn, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jose Montoya, who posted 11 points.

Leading La Joya Community to victory were Jaseer Willis and Isaiah Carter. Willis shot 56% from the field en route to 24 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, while Carter almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards. Those 24 points gave Willis a new career-high. Billy Mpoyi was another key player, putting up four points.

Kofa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Kofa is taking a road trip to take on Somerton at 5:30 p.m. on December 1. As for La Joya Community, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-48 victory against Phoenix Christian on the 24th.
