Basketball Preview: Pinellas Park Patriots vs. Hillsborough Terriers
The Pinellas Park Patriots will take on the Hillsborough Terriers at TBD on Monday. Pinellas Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Terriers are ranked 190th).
Pinellas Park's game on Thursday was all tied up 22-22 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 42-34 to Indian Rocks Christian. Pinellas Park has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Hillsborough stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Durant 72-36 on the road. The victory was familiar territory for Hillsborough who now have five in a row.
Deana Epps continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight assists and eight steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellayna Stephens, who scored 15 points along with six steals.
Pinellas Park has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hillsborough, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
