Baseball Recap: Weiser Takes a Loss

Weiser fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Homedale on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 9-7. The loss continues a trend for the Wolverines in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost seven in a row.

Jace Waggoner put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Cole Ingle was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Isai Herrera was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

Weiser's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1. As for Homedale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Coming up, Weiser will take on Parma at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Homedale, they will challenge New Plymouth at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pilgrims will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
