Corinth Christian Academy has gone 7-2 against First Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Corinth Christian Academy came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Northside Christian Academy, falling 21-1. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Warriors couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, First Christian put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Monday. They never let Brunswick Christian Academy get on the board and left with a 22-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Victoria Loehr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Corie Wheeler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Arabella Blake was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
First Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
First Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Corinth Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Corinth Christian Academy suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to First Christian in their previous meeting last Monday. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
