Softball Recap: Manti Wins Going Away Against Richfield

Manti's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Richfield Wildcats 18-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Templars considering their one-run performance the game before.

Danie Alder made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with two RBI and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dakoda Cheney was incredible, going 4-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Daniels, who went 3-for-6 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Manti moved to 9-17 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Richfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Manti will venture away from home to face off against South Sevier at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something the Templars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Richfield, they will be playing at home against Canyon View at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
