Baseball Recap: Cary Imps vs. Middle Creek Mustangs
Cary extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 10-6. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Middle Creek Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-12 on Tuesday.
Cary saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Skylan Joyner, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Middle Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.
On Middle Creek's side, they got a great performance from Ben Cather as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Brody Michel was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Miner, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Coming up, Cary will square off against Cardinal Gibbons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Imps' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Middle Creek, they will face off against East Wake at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
