It was a Battle of the Birds when Lakeland challenged Lakeside on Friday. Lakeland came out on top against Lakeside by a score of 6-2. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Jacob Holte tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

On the hitting side, Jace Taylor was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Cash Lund was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Lakeland's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeland beat Lakeside by a score of 9-8 later that day.
