Baseball Recap: Maplesville Has No Trouble Against Marion

While Maplesville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Marion. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 15-0 win. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jt Johnson looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Maplesville is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-12 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Braden Atcheson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Maplesville is 3-1 when Atcheson posts two or more runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aiden Abbott, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Maplesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.

Maplesville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Marion, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.
