Football Recap: Maxx Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johnstown over Schuylerville

If Johnstown was feeling good fresh off their 34-8 takedown of Ticonderoga last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sir Bills fell 27-21 to the Schuylerville Horses on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sir Bills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 296th, while the Horses are ranked 85th).

Johnstown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maxx Miller, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two TDs. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydan D'Amore, who picked up 129 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Johnstown's record is now 1-1. As for Schuylerville, the win (which was their 14th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Johnstown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cobleskill-Richmondville at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Schuylerville, they will face off against Hudson on Friday.
