Hampden and Bangor are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Broncos will be playing at home against the Rams at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Hampden's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Bangor has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Hampden will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Oxford Hills, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Broncos came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vikings on Monday, sneaking past 4-3.
Cat Facchini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Kiera Gabric was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bangor sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Camden Hills on Monday.
Bangor also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Emma Tripp gave up just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophie Lynch, who went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Victoria Jarnich, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Bangor's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Hampden, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Hampden came out on top in a nail-biter against Bangor when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 9-8. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
