Basketball Recap: Florence Township Memorial Takes a Loss

After flying high against Maple Shade last Wednesday, Florence Township Memorial came back down to earth. The Florence Township Memorial Flashes were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 53-52 to the Gloucester City Lions. The Flashes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in February.

Jake Smith had a dynamite game for Gloucester City, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Smith's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Flagg, who posted nine points and five steals.

Florence Township Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Gloucester City, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Florence Township Memorial will head out on the road to take on Point Pleasant Boro at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Gloucester City, they will welcome Highland Regional at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
