Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for East Gaston + How To Watch

East Gaston extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 16-4. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Cherryville Ironmen. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 12, 2023, but that streak is no more.

East Gaston got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Payne out in front who had 27 digs and one assist. Payne has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bolton, who had 15 digs.

As for Cherryville, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 12, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Loss or not, Cherryville got some senior leadership from Camryn Shirley and Kate Bookout. Shirley had 19 digs and two aces, while Bookout had ten digs.
