Newark fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hinckley-Big Rock on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 16-12 to the Royals. The Norsemen have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jackson Walker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Newark is 4-2 when Walker posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eastin Mcbroom, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Newark's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 7-12. As for Hinckley-Big Rock, the win got them back to even at 7-7-1.
