Lanier had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 20-0 walloping at the hands of the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs on Tuesday. Lanier has not had much luck with Stanhope Elmore recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

For Stanhope Elmore's part, Luke Payne looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk). Payne has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Stanhope Elmore got a massive performance out of Jordan Jones, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Hayden Anderson was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Stanhope Elmore's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.

While Lanier had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
