Volleyball Game Preview: Camelback Spartans vs. South Mountain Jaguars

The Camelback Spartans will take on the South Mountain Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Mountain took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Camelback, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Camelback turned things around against Browne on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bruins 3-2.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Camelback who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 20-18.

Meanwhile, South Mountain came up short against Cesar Chavez on Monday and fell 3-1.

South Mountain came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22.

Camelback's win bumped their record up to 2-10. As for South Mountain, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.

Camelback suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to South Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
