Basketball Game Preview: Mendota Trojans vs. Newark Norsemen

Mendota is 0-3 against Newark since December of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Mendota Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Newark Norsemen at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Mendota is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 17th straight game on Tuesday. They received a blow as they fell 48-32 to Putnam County.

Meanwhile, Newark played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 79-21 loss at the hands of Seneca. The loss continues a trend for the Norsemen in their matchups with the Fighting Irish: they've now lost four in a row.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 3-24. As for Newark, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-24.

Mendota took a serious blow against Newark in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 53-19. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mendota was down 33-10.
