Softball Recap: Davenport Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ridge Community last Tuesday, Davenport came back down to earth. The Broncos took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakeland Christian Vikings on Monday. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Morgan Cresswell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Jordyn Duran was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Davenport now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Lakeland Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.

Looking ahead, Davenport will take on Lake Gibson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Braves have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Lakeland Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Inspiration Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
