Softball Recap: Tipton Comes Up Short

Tipton had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-15 to make it four. They came up short against the Rossville Hornets, falling 15-9. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 13-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Makayla Schinlaub made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lacey Bitner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Rossville, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Rossville's side, they got a massive performance out of Brielle Layton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Allie Elliott was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tipton will challenge Frankton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rossville, they will square off against Tri-Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
