Recap: Northeast Vikings vs. George Washington Eagles
The Northeast Vikings entered their tilt with the George Washington Eagles with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 69-36 blowout they got at home against George Washington. Northeast might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five contests by 33 points or more this season.
Northeast was led to victory by Michael Freeman and Darrius Gaeta. Freeman scored 16 points, while Gaeta scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Gaeta's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Jalen Lee-womack was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, George Washington still got an impressive performance from Anderson Dorvil, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds.
Northeast pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for George Washington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.
Northeast will head out on the road to face off against Science Leadership Academy at Beeber at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. George Washington won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against MAST Charter II at 3:15 p.m. on January 5th. MAST Charter II is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.7 points per game.
