Baseball Game Preview: Pope County Pirates vs. Hardin County Cougars

The Pope County Pirates will head out to challenge the Hardin County Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Pope County's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Galatia/Thompsonville on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Hardin County was able to grind out a solid victory over Gallatin County on Wednesday, taking the game 5-2. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Pope County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Hardin County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5-1.

Pope County came up short against Hardin County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
