Softball Game Preview: Columbia River Rapids vs. R.A. Long Lumberjacks

The Columbia River Rapids will challenge the R.A. Long Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.

Columbia River took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Woodland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rapids had just enough and edged out the Beavers 6-5 on Monday.

Haylee Delano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Haley Corona was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sydney Wilder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, R.A. Long waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 8-5.

Columbia River's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for R.A. Long, their win bumped their record up to 5-9-1.

Columbia River took their victory against R.A. Long when the teams last played on April 14th by a conclusive 15-0 score. Will the Rapids repeat their success, or do the Lumberjacks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
