Softball Recap: Platteville Hillmen vs. East Dubuque Warriors

Platteville had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-8 to make it seven. They fell just short of the East Dubuque Warriors by a score of 4-2. The Hillmen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Platteville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy Shea, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for East Dubuque, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On East Dubuque's side, Curin Oberman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Oberman has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tierney Miller was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Platteville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Prairie du Chien on the 6th. As for East Dubuque, they have also already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Fulton on the 6th.
